Do you often look at the vast array of luxurious embellishment fibres and wish you had them all but don't know how or even if they'll work in wet felting? Do you wish you had the knowledge to help you choose which ones would work best to help you achieve a look or an effect you want to create?
Well, as it says on the cover, The Right Fibre is a guide to using embellishment fibres in wet felting  :)

This isn't a project based book, it focuses on the fibres themselves, and concentrates on showing clearly how the different fibres look after felting. It features 20 of the most popular and commonly available embellishment fibres, such as Silk, Bamboo, Soy, Hemp and Trilobal Nylon in tops and staple fibre lengths. Each fibre has its own profile, with photos of the fibre before it is used, and how it looks after felting in various ways.

There's more to choosing fibres than just how they look though ... How much fibre should you use? Will it look the same with a different type of wool? What if it's blended in?... So, there is also a section detailing various things which affect the way a fibre will felt and look after felting, so you have the information you need to choose the right fibre and give you more control over the outcome.

There are well over 200 high quality photos in the book. Every photo is taken carefully to show the characteristics of each fibre and how felting affects them. There are many close-up and supermacro shots to show even more detail, and because this is an e-book, all the photos can be enlarged for even more detail without losing any quality.

Having previous wet felting experience will help understand some of the techniques discussed, though I think anyone who has seen wet felted items made and understands the concept will find this book easy to understand and follow. In the introduction, there’s a small description of how I felt the samples, and I’ve included a small glossary at the end in case there are any unfamiliar terms.

  6. This sounds like a great book for felters that use and experiment with fibres. I have sampled and used a variety of fibres but would love to know what else works. Even adding ones own experiences to your findings will make a wonderful reference and save some sample-making time!
